the app is useful and works well, it's helped me a lot. but it's clear it was developed in another language, some of the dialogue is very very uncomfortable especially if you're connected to friends in the app. just for starters: sending gratitude tells the recipient that your finch 'shuffles over and gives a little bow'. sending hugs to a friend who is having a bad day sends the message: 'finch came in with hugs and cuddles'. neither of these are what you would say to a friend.
What a fantastic app for mental health. A positive spin on taking care of yourself with a Tamagotchi-like vibe, the app is an exercise in many things, including bits of reparenting yourself. I also love that it has a "pay it forward" option. One of the few apps that impressed me enough during the trial that I was more than happy to support the dev team. Thank you for this wonderfully designed app, in the UX, UI, and mental health perspectives.
Finch has been a SURPRISING lifesaver. I did leave my little birb with the default name, but they couldn't be a better fit. I love getting to interact with them, and the goals & activities you can do on the app aren't overwhelming to me. I am SO glad that it has so many features that are accessible without a paywall and that anything you WOULD have to pay for is completely optional. I really look forward to seeing the progress I make with the help of my new birb friend. ❤️🐥
This app is awesome. I used the free version for a while before getting Finch Plus. Over the past few months, this app has helped me build healthy habits and routines, become more productive, and has even been instrumental in helping me lose 40lbs so far (and counting.) I would recommend this app to anyone looking to become more organized and healthy.
I gave this app a second chance after a friend sent me their friend code. It's more motivating to complete tasks when you have friends to do it with you. The app is very cute and I love the endless possibilities to customize and personalize your bird and room. I love that there is journaling and exercises for breathing and stretching. You can even create your own tasks and the app gives you incentives for completing them. This is a great app to gently help yourself get out of a rut
As someone in her early 40s with undiagnosed neurodivergence, this app has absolutely, unarguably changed my life. I've tried other self-management apps before and gave up in a day or two; I've been using Finch (free version!) for over three weeks and it keeps me coming back. It's fun, it's intuitive, it's adorable, and it helps me keep my tasks managed like a pro. God bless the team that dreamed this up!
I have ADHD & more than one dissociative disorder, and often rely on someone else reminding me to do self-care. After a few different apps, this one takes the crown👑 as the one that actually works. I even had a streak over 100 days during a full-time schedule at university (unfortunately that ended during summer break). Thanks to Guardians & the Finch team for helping me take care of myself! Once I graduate & am no longer poor, I intend to become a Guardian myself. :)
Such a helpful app! I've tried them all; Productive, Habitica... none have stuck, but this app has kept me on a 35 day streak from my first day of use! Everything about it is geared towards my autism; the connection I have with this little bird and his clothes, the satisfaction of getting points for doing activities, the social media aspect, the simple tasks like "give yourself a hug". It's just perfect, and has really changed my life.
It's been a really nice way to keep up with a routine, something I've never really been able to do before, but... I don't understand why IOS users are allowed to only have to pay 14.99 for a year's subscription, as where Android users have to pay 69.99 for a year. That's an incredible difference in pricing, and an extremely unfair one at that. It's a cute app, but, I can't support something that rips it's users off so badly depending on their device.
I've tried other motivation apps before where you earn XP when you do tasks, but this is so cute. it's a lot easier for me to take care of other people or animals, so taking care of my little birb makes me happy to do my tasks instead of stressed out that I need to get them done. I also like the suggested tasks. I'm able to start out small in areas I really need the most help. little changes are way easier to keep up than big changes.
wonderful self-care app to journal, make and track goals, do different activities for "money", decorate the bird house, get clothes, etc and send to others! It's all private, and there are NO PURCHASES except getting plus. Regular version of the app has TONS of usability, and paid version is mostly rewards, and extra prompts for the different activities (writing/reflections, breathing exercises, quizzes, etc) I've had this app for 3 years and it has been great! the devs listen to users!
It's adorable, adorably simple, and in its simplicity, it is semi contagious to help you achieve goals in an interactive manner that only provides positive reinforcement. This is pure carrot, not stick, type of feedback. Even if you miss progressive goals, your finch sends words of encouragement for what you did accomplish, not for missing the goal itself.
This app has really helped me to feel better on most days. It keeps me organized and reminds me that I need to take care of myself. My life has been a complete mess lately (my mom passed away and my health has been declining) but having this to help me every day keeps me going. Just wanted to say thank you to the team that works on this app. It makes a difference in my life. Just wanted to update and say I've been having some big freezes on the Quest tab! I've reinstalled but no luck with it.
This app has changed my life for the better. You can really tell that the people behind this app genuinely care about mental health and keeping the app as accessible as possible for everyone. I love my Finch, and I've gotten all my friends involved too! I can't guarantee that this app will help you. However, if you benefit from self-care apps, this so far has been the best one I've tried!
The absolute best to-do app, and I've tried more than 15 different ones. This app keeps me motivated, because I could get things for my finch pet every time I finish my tasks. There are always new items each month, different places for my finch to travel, new pets for my finch to collect, and so much more! I also love that our finch starts as a baby, then grows up to be a toddler, child, teen, and finally an adult! The finch's pets also grow to adults. My kids and I all use this app! Just love!
I want to give this app more stars, I really really do. its a great app, except for when I ACTUALLY need it.. I'm autistic and this app is just WAYYYYY too bright for me. honestly the fact this app doesn't already have a dark mode is truly insane. If I'm overstimulated and need a quick/easy breathing exercise, I'm kinda screwed. I just cannot handle how bright the app is. my lowest brightness setting is still way too much. otherwise, the app is perfect. I just can't use it when I need it most.
Love this app! I would really like to see a "Finch Premium for Families"!! I've been using it on and off for years. My kids and my partner have all started using it recently. It's difficult to afford 4 premium plans but it's such a great way to encourage good self-care habits. My only minor grumble (not even worth knocking off a star) is that the auto tagging system is a little clunky and sometimes picks up on weird things to make into a tag.
Update: It has been a while. I have had the premium Finch, but lately as much as I have hit the restore button after deleting and bring back the app, it won't bring back my premium benefits. I reached out but there's no resolution. I wasn't sure if I would like this app. But it's been 7 days and I've used it for all 7 days. For anyone with ADHD , you know how major that is. Here's looking forward to another 14 so I can lock in the habit. I'm feeling better, I'm doing better. Thank you Finch!
it's cute but the focus timer is infuriating. I try to use the focus timer for studying and going on walks, but I can't lock my phone or let it time-out lock or the timer will end like I canceled it. so I have to then either skip it to where it won't count my progress or start it over again "focusing" entirely on keeping the app open and my phone unlocked so it doesn't turn off. Isn't that the opposite of what the app is supposed to do?
I really love Finch! I've been using it for a week. It has encouraged me to do more. It also helped me understand what I have done and not for the day making myself more active than usual. Yes, I have relapsed but it makes me feel guilty to push me forward. It helps playing it like a game with the whole childlike esthetic, and playing with cheeky also motivates me to push further, bringing out my inner competitive side that's been pushed aside over the years of failure.
